[FORT LAUDERDALE, FL] — Governor Ron DeSantis has appointed Thomas Mersch, General Counsel of Kelley Kronenberg, to the Florida Atlantic University Board of Trustees. Tom brings over 30 years of experience as a business attorney, entrepreneur, and corporate leader to the role. 

Tom is already a familiar figure at FAU, currently serving as Chair of the College of Business Dean’s Advisory Board and as an Entrepreneur in Residence. He co-founded The Venture Mentoring Team, a nonprofit that trains mentors and connects them with promising startups, and has served on the Federal Judicial Nominating Commission for the Southern District of Florida. 

His career spans leadership roles across technology, e-commerce, finance, and travel, including serving as General Counsel for Channel IQ, a “Big Data” software provider for over 300 of the world’s largest manufacturers. He has also founded and sold multiple companies, including an online asset recovery firm.

Tom earned his J.D. from the University of Mississippi and his B.A. from Southern Methodist University.
