Danielle Cohen Higgins is a Partner and Business Unit Leader at Kelley Kronenberg, focusing her practice on complex commercial litigation and serving as a member of the firm’s Business Legal Team. She brings nearly two decades of business law and litigation experience combined with unique insights gained from her role as an elected official.
Danielle currently serves as a Miami-Dade County Commissioner, representing District 8 and a constituency of nearly three hundred thousand residents. In this role, she enacts local policy, zealously advocates for her residents, and collaborates with local, state, and federal officials to secure funding for her community and the county. She has created numerous projects and programs beneficial to the community including bridges, micro mobility trails, and affordable housing initiatives. She also created recurring legacy community programs such as Safe Summers, Hometown Heroes, and Community Conversations. She serves as the Chairwoman of the Airport Committee, Vice Chairwoman of the Appropriations Committee, Board Member of the Transportation Planning Organization, and immediate past Chairwoman of the Biscayne Bay Watershed Advisory Board.
Prior to joining Kelley Kronenberg, Danielle was Managing Shareholder of her own law firm, where she handled complex commercial litigation cases from filing through jury and bench trials and appeals in both state and federal court. Before starting her own law firm, she began her career at a large international law firm, where she worked Tobacco litigation cases, condominium cases, and complex commercial civil trial support.
Danielle earned her Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of Florida, where she was recognized on the President’s Honor List and Dean’s List and received the Oasis Award for Recognition of Honors. She received her Juris Doctor from Florida State University, where she received a Book Award for Advanced Civil Procedure and served as Founder and Editor of the student newsletter, The Voice.
Her extensive public service demonstrates her commitment to community development and policy innovation. Through her work as Commissioner, she has championed initiatives spanning infrastructure development, environmental protection, and community programming, providing her with valuable insight into the intersection of law, policy, and business operations that enhances her approach to complex commercial litigation.
She also recently provided on-air commentary regarding legal and policy matters on networks such as MSNBC, ABC, and FOX Live Now.
