James Coons is a Partner at Kelley Kronenberg, focusing his practice on the defense of general liability and third-party insurance matters, with emphasis on products liability litigation and complex commercial litigation. He brings over twenty years of experience defending commercial lawsuits and tort actions, including personal injury, products liability, premises liability, construction defect, construction accident, wrongful death, mass toxic torts, and consumer fraud and warranty actions.
Prior to joining Kelley Kronenberg, James served as a partner at a New York law firm and previously as a partner at another firm for over seventeen years. He has represented numerous domestic and international companies, including product manufacturers, distributors, retailers, insurers, franchisors, healthcare companies, real estate owners, and construction contractors in state and federal courts across New Jersey and New York. His experience includes representing corporate plaintiffs in high-stakes commercial matters, including multi-million-dollar contract disputes, construction disputes, commercial tenancy actions, and franchise disputes. James also maintains a regulatory compliance and advice practice, conducting investigations and counseling domestic and foreign companies regarding compliance with applicable state and federal law and regulations in areas such as import duties, consumer safety, and hazard communications.
James earned his Bachelor of Arts from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey-New Brunswick. He received his Juris Doctor from Boston University School of Law.
