Overview

Kimberly Fernandes is a Partner and Business Unit Leader focusing her practice on the handling of workers’ compensation claims, general liability claims, and first-party property claims in both Florida and Georgia. She proudly serves as Director of the firm’s Appellate Practice Group.

Across the expanse of her illustrious career, Kim has adeptly navigated the intricacies of more than a hundred and fifty appellate cases, spanning a wide array of legal practice areas. As a testament to her appellate advocacy skills, Kim successfully coached a high school mock trial team that won the state title and went on to compete nationally.

Kim has been called upon to provide expert testimony before the Florida Legislature, particularly in matters concerning seminal workers’ compensation laws. Complementing her workers’ compensation expertise, Kim has mastered the nuances surrounding the Medicare Secondary Payer Regulations, offering erudite guidance on alternative avenues for the preservation of jeopardized settlements pertaining to broad spectrum of injury claims.

Furthermore, Kim’s resolute commitment lies in defending insurance carriers within tort litigation, encompassing areas like premises liability, automobile, and trucking cases. Her expertise extends to safeguarding the concerns of property insurers in Florida, focusing on first-party coverage for a range of claims, including sinkholes, windstorms, fires, molds, theft, and losses linked to water damage.

Kim is certified by the state of Florida to provide Continuing Education courses for employers and insurance carriers and she regularly presents seminars regarding case law updates, indemnity offsets, MSA issues, and other general workers’ compensation matters.
