Tate Barkley is a Partner at Kelley Kronenberg, focusing his practice on first-party property insurance defense. He brings over 30 years of litigation experience and holds an AV Peer Review Rating of “Preeminent.”

Tate co-founded and has led a multi-specialty law practice focusing on insurance defense litigation, coverage disputes, and fraud investigation. He has extensive experience representing healthcare providers in personal injury claims, mass tort litigation, consumer and labor claims, and commercial disputes. In addition to his litigation practice, Tate is a Certified Mediator who has engaged in over one thousand mediations in Texas federal and state courts and throughout the United States, working with parties to resolve conflicts and achieve successful resolution while avoiding trial costs.

Tate earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Government from the University of Texas at Austin. He received his Juris Doctor from South Texas College of Law Houston and graduated from the A.A. White Dispute Resolution Center at the University of Houston Law Center.

He has served as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Houston since 2000, teaching courses including Communications Law and Ethics, Bargaining and Negotiation, and Persuasion. In 2019, he received the University of Houston Jack Valenti School of Communications Outstanding Teaching by a Lecturer award.
