[CHICAGO, IL] – Kelley Kronenberg is pleased to announce the strategic expansion of its real estate practice with the addition of Elbert Reniva, who joins the firm as Partner and Business Unit Leader in the Real Estate Division in the firm’s Chicago office. Elbert brings over twenty-five years of experience as both a commercial and real estate attorney and seasoned business executive, successfully representing public and private companies, governmental entities, and individual clients.
Elbert has been recognized as a Leading Lawyer in Real Estate by Illinois Super Lawyers, a prestigious designation awarded to less than five percent of Illinois attorneys. Prior to joining Kelley Kronenberg, he served as partner and head of the Chicago Real Estate Group at a prominent law firm. He previously led the Real Estate and Corporate Practice Group at another firm for fourteen years and served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel for a major real estate development company for over seven years, where he spearheaded a twenty-four million dollar acquisition and development of a three hundred thirty-unit commercial and residential condominium project and successfully led the legal integration of over four hundred individual assets in a two-year period.
“Elbert’s addition to our Chicago office represents a significant milestone in our strategic growth,” said Jason M. Vanslette, Chair of Real Estate at Kelley Kronenberg. “His exceptional track record representing major developers, national homebuilders, institutional lenders, and Fortune 500 companies, combined with his unique experience as a former general counsel, makes him an outstanding addition to our real estate practice. His recognition by Illinois Super Lawyers and his deep relationships within the Illinois real estate community position us to better serve clients throughout the Midwest.”
Elbert has represented some of the most prominent national and regional developers and property owners on acquisition, financing, joint venture, and development work, including master planned communities. His clients have included national and regional homebuilders, major landowners, institutional and hard money lenders, private equity firms, and international companies. He has extensive experience in land banking transactions, commercial office leasing, public-private partnerships, and complex lease negotiations. Elbert has served as outside Midwest general counsel for an international gaming holding company and for a national environmental engineering firm, outside counsel for Cook County, Illinois for public development projects, and was lead real estate attorney for the City of Chicago team that negotiated the proposed privatization of Midway International Airport.
Elbert earned his Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Illinois Chicago and received his Juris Doctor from Loyola University Chicago School of Law. He is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Appellate Court for the Seventh Circuit, and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
