Jake D. Huxtable

Jake Huxtable is a Partner and Business Unit Leader focusing his practice on first-party property insurance defense, third-party liability insurance defense, and civil litigation. He has experience practicing general insurance defense with an emphasis in first-party claims and coverage issues, contractor/road liability, motor vehicle liability, construction defect, personal injury, and premises liability.  Jake also has experience in commercial and civil litigation, including business torts, contract law, regulatory and government investigations, and white-collar defense. He also has assisted in contract negotiations of professional athletes and NCAA coaches, and is a certified NFL contract advisor representing NFL clients.

Prior to joining the firm, Jake was a Partner/Shareholder with a law firm in West Palm Beach, Florida, where his primary practice areas also included first-party property insurance defense, third-party liability insurance defense, negligence, breach of contract, and premises liability, as well as civil litigation, criminal defense, business litigation, white-collar defense, and sports law.

He earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Jacksonville University, where he graduated cum laude and with Phi Kappa Phi Honors. He was also the recipient of a Men’s Baseball athletic scholarship at the University of Central Florida (2009-2011) and Jacksonville University (2012-2013), was named as team captain 2012-2013, and in 2013 won the Student Scholar Award and Most Valuable Player Awards, was awarded CoSida Academic All-American honors, and was nominated as a finalist for Male Student Athlete of the Year for the Atlantic Sun Conference his senior year.

Jake went on to earn his Juris Doctor from the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where he graduated in the top tier of the class. During law school, Jake clerked for Dean Mead law firm in their litigation department; was a summer associate at McGuireWoods LLP; and was a legal intern for Legacy Sports Agency in New York City assisting with negotiations of MLB and NFL player contracts.
